  • Constantine VI and Irene Follis?

    Hello friends,

Here is another coin which is successfully avoiding my attribution (sorry for the quality of the image - a professional quality photo will be available next month):

    It appears to be:

Constantine VI and Irene, AE Follis
    +COnStAnt CE IER'
Constantine VI on left, beardless, Irene on right, both crowned with cross on head and both wearing loros, holding cruciform scepter between them
    +COnS / tAntInE / CELOHKA / SILIS RO / mEOn
    Legend in five lines
    25mm x 26mm, 8.92g

Sear Byzantine only lists three folles for Constantine VI and Irene and none are anywhere near this obverse or reverse. Are there any other possibilities? Who else from the Byzantine Empire has the "pointy ears" headgear like Irene's?

    Thanks!
