  • Lystra coin

    Hello,

I recently bought this coin from Lystra Lycaonia of Marcus Aurelius/she wolf, twins, 16mm, 4.4gr. It seems to be rare. I seached the Internet for another example for a reference number and found nothing. If anybody has a V. Aulock for Lycaonia or other book with this coin could you please let me know? Thanks. Mark

von Aulock, Lykaoniens, 518 (same dies). Only one specimen cited from a private collection.

      Lystra

      THANKS MUCH Barry!!
I also heard from Gert Boersema on Forum Ancient Coins who added that Aulock's tenative reading on the reverse may not be correct. This example shows a more clear reading of COLONIAE.

        Lystra coin lost

In November 2014 I posted a photo of a Lystra coin shortly after I bought it. But it never came. It was lost or stolen in the mail. My money was refunded, but I'd much rather have the coin. Here is the photo again. If anyone ever sees it for sale please contact me. Thanks.
