Dave passed away suddenly last Friday at the age of 49, leaving a wife and
three children. Dave was an inspiration for many collectors, and he eagerly
shared his enthusiasm for ancient coins through his WildWinds site.
Everyone who knew him considered him a friend. He was a genuine asset to
the ancient numismatic community and will be deeply missed.

The notice in the San Francisco Chronicle:

Steps are being taken to ensure that WildWinds will continue. If you are
interested in contributing to a fund for Dave's children, please let me know
    at bill@vcoins.com.

My condolences to his family, its very sad to die so young. He seems to acheived alot from his obituary and that is something for us all to aspire to.

I hadn't seen Dave in 8 months, due to my fault not his, what shock to hear about his passing. I will miss his easy going style, self-effacement, and all around good company. It was always great to run into him at a show, or meeting.

A great loss to the numismatic community -- and such a young man. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

I am speechless with sorrow and grief. Like Alfredo, I spoke to Dave only a few days ago. This is a terrible shock for me. I hope and pray that his family will find the strength to get through this tragic and difficult time.

this is a real chock , may God bring comfort to his wife and his kids, and take mercy of his soul.
I was exchanging emailes with him tell the last week regarding improving the Judaean coins section, I realy feel sad, but what comfort me littel that he will always be remembered, as a noble man with a noble messege, and hope that every one will pay his family back for the servises he provided.

Condolences to his family.Take strength from your faith in this time of sorrow. David shared his knowledge readily with newbie and seasoned collector alike, WildWinds is his legacy to the ancient numismatic community. I am saddened to know of his passing.
