Printing "rare" coins
Here is a link provided at the Yahoo English Hammered group by a member to a video on "printing" objects in metal including gold and silver. Very scary for the future of numismatics.

3D printers will not produce images with the necessary resolution to do coins at this time. However, combined with a Janvier die-engraving pantograph one could make excellent dies and use them to strike counterfeits and replicas.
http://www.coinbooks.org/esylum_v07n11a10.html The Janvier technology has been known for over 100 years. |

Cute, but there are much easier and more sophisticated means to produce fake coins.
