How do I change my avatar?

I have looked and looked and can't find anywhere on this site where my account is stored with the avatar. How do I change the avatar or anything else on my account for that matter?!

Click User CP at the top of the page & look for Change Avatar on the left hand side of the page.

I have no idea what an avatar is, but try clicking on "Quick Links" above. You should get a drop down menu that has edit features. Maybe this is what you're looking for.

Now I know what an avatar is. Where did that word come from? Must be a sniglet.

OK guys thanks. I found it. Sometimes this site has bedeviled me in my attempts to do things. No system is 100% user friendly, I realize. Of course the user (me!) has alot to do with it too!

Hi Barry,

As far as I know the term comes to us through video games. From what I remember of early online (dial up!) gaming in the 90s, the first time you could 'customize' your character to differentiate it from the ones other people were using, was called an avatar, as the 'earthly manifestation' of a 'divine being' (You, the player).

So, in this case, Breck's earthly representation is a stater, and mine is a pile of coins, instead of a blue-tinted, machine gun toting video game protagonist

Breck - nice flag. Is Spokane the sister city of Jo'burg?

Makes sense Steve. As I haven't played a video game since Battlezone and Tempest were new, it stands to reason that I would have no idea what an avatar was. For some reason, knowing this makes me feel a bit like a nerd.
