Interesting Little Ring

Hello all, I recently purchased this ring off eBay; it is described as Roman and a size 2 ring.

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas about what the design of the ring is supposed to be? I am assuming it is a child's ring at size 2, but I can't come up with anything. Maybe someone here has seen a similar ring or has an idea about what the design of this ring may be, or if it possibly served any purpose?

Thanks,
Andrew
